With Chambaghat as base camp, which is 6km from Solan in Himachal Pradesh , Karol Tibba is about 15km trek which leads you to your final destination🔝, that is Karol Mata Temple on the peak🏔.
I started the trek on December 01, 2019 from Chandigarh. The journey started from Chandigarh by Scooty (Honda Aviator) 🏍at about 10 am🕙 (I recommend you to go early if you are going in winters, at about 8am🕗) and via Panchkula, Pinjor I reached Solan . From Solan I went to Chambaghat, which is around 6km from Solan and is the base camp from where the trek actually starts🙃. As you are moving on the road to Chambaghat, you will see a Helipad on left hand side, from there take a right turn (actually it looks like U turn)⤵️. Now from there you can travel for about 2km on your vehicle and park it near the base camp, you can also park your vehicle near Helipad🚁 and start on foot🚶.
After travelling about 2km on that unpaved road, be conscious as the trek starts suddenly on the left hand side⬅️ and there is no sign board❌. If you don’t start trek from there then you will keep moving long way on the road.
Now starting the trek and after going hardly about 500-600 m there are 2 ways🤔. The way going through right is long but somewhat comfortable🙃 and the way from the left is short, steep and rocky😬.
I took the way from the right😁 (be conscious on this trek as at many points there are two ways going, but keep in mind you have to reach the top so always follow the path going up). Now the trek in the beginning is really dry 😥with dry grass and very less trees🌲. After moving for about 1:30hrs I reached at a point where I again saw 2 ways and both going up. At this point there is a dustbin (just a clue). Take the way going left⬅️, as I made the mistake 😣going right and had to return.
One more clue for this trek is, follow the electricity wires 🔌and poles going to the top of the peak.
Now in the mid there is a ground type area ⛳from there go in the direction of electric pole and there you will find a small board on a tree🌲 and an arrow ➡️is marked showing way to Karol Mata Temple. This will give a sigh of relief 😌as it shows that we are on right track.
Now moving forward again there will be 2 sign boards showing way to the Karol Mata Temple and the other way going towards Kutia (Hut) ⛺and the Cave (known as Pandva cave and longest cave in Himalayas, said to be about 48km long, I too read it on Internet🤓) and Radha Krishna Temple. The way from here is a complete jungle😱 and it’s really cold😵 there.
As you reach the Kutia just move a little ahead and there is a board showing way towards the cave. Now moving ahead there is Radha Krishna Temple and inside that there is cave, be conscious 🙇inside the cave as it is slippery and it’s completely dark inside. You can go about 50m inside the cave and after that the cave is closed due to falling of rocks, but if anyone wants to cross it, he/she can go ahead too (but not recommended)❌🚫.
At this point you can refill your water💧 bottle as taps are available.
Now coming out from here there is again one new way🤔 going above to the Karol Mata Temple and through the forest, from this side the trek is bit easy 😌and less rocky.
Keep moving moving moving. It took about 1hr from cave to reach the top. When you are about to reach you will see 02 white color ➡️⬅️arrows showing way to temple and ya there is a dustbin too 😛. Now just bow your head down in the temple and enjoy 😇the view from the top🌄.
Now while returning back don’t take the same route. At the point where you recently saw a dustbin😅, take a right turn as it is shortcut. Now you will reach that ground like area⛳. From that point go ahead and the first point where you saw 2 ways going take the right turn as it is the way I talked about in the beginning which was short, steep and rocky. This will take you to the base🙆.
One more thing about this trek is that at many points you will find some clothes 🎀tied with trees. I think these are to show the directions ( just a guess). It’s a good trek but i think it’s somewhat maze type😵. So be conscious and return back before it get dark.
Do carry your jacket and gloves with you if you are going in winters❄ as its cold 🌬when you are returning.
Be safe and keep the place clean and green 😇😇.
Here are some pics from my journey, hope you like them😇
