Hatu Temple / Hatu Peak Trek, Narkanda

Hatu Peak 🏞 where lies the Hatu Mata Mandir/Hatu Temple 🙏 is the second highest 🤓 peak in Shimla District. The elevation is 3400 Mtrs. (11152 feet).

I went to visit Hatu Peak on January 10, 2021 📆, Means mine was a winter trek🌬. Actually I was not expecting 🙄that I have to trek the whole distance.

I started from Chandigarh at 3:50am 🕓 in the morning on my Scooty (Honda Aviator)🏍 and via Punchkula, Pinjor, Parwanu, Solan, Shimla, Kufri, Theog and Matiana I reached Narkanda at 10:00am (6hrs journey)🕚. I usually prefer 2 wheeler for travelling on mountains. No doubt it was cold outside😵 but if u r out there for adventure than it is worth it. Just wear your cloths🎽👕🎩 and on the top use a raincoat, that will protect you from clod air🌬 and fog🌫 and also protect your clothes from getting wet🌧.

Benefits of taking a 2 wheeler on the mountains

1. Cost effective. 💰(it is very economical as it will consume less petrol🤑)

2. You can easily cross traffic jams🏍😎.

3. You need not pay Himachal Entry Tax. 💸💸

4. You can enjoy the surrounding much more than you go by a car. 🌄

5. No problem of parking. 🚫

6. Easy to control and manage in case of any problem in the vehicle.🤖

7. You pollute less as compared to the car. 🌞🌝

8. And the benefit I got while going to this trip, you will read it further in the blog. 😎😎

Distance from Chandigarh to Narkanda is about 180Km. And the road from Chandigarh to Narkanda is 85% in good condition. Some stretches are under construction 🚧 near Solan and Kandaghat, so there you can get bad road. After reaching Narkanda you can have your breakfast at Negi Restaurant 🏤which is at the bus stand 🚍Narkanda and provide quality food🍱 there is also Romeo Dhaba just 50mtrs ahead of Negi Restaurant, that too provide good pranthas🍛.

After having the breakfast🍱, I started further. Now from Narkanda bus stand just go around 150mtrs🔝 ahead and there you will find the Hatu Temple road. Moving on that road for about 01km you will get 2 roads one going uphill🆙 and one going straight. You have to take the road going uphill🆙🔝.

BUT

Now they will not allow🚫 you to take your vehicle on that road. I visited Narkanda on December 27, 2020 and at that time vehicles were allowed, but that time I couldn’t visit Hatu Peak, but now when I came on January 10, 2021 vehicles were not allowed🙄. I asked someone that why vehicles are not allowed, so I came to know that as the road going uphill is very narrow, so a car fall from the mountain 🤕😮and so authorities has discontinued going of vehicles.

But here is the benefit of 2 wheeler I talked above🤓. As I was on Scooty so I asked that taking Scotty is not an issue and with no delay, the personal on duty allowed me🤗. From this point the distance of Hatu peak is 6km and all those going by foot (that is everyone, except me😎😎) has to trek 6 km🚶🚶.

I took my scooty till the half way (up-to 3km) and after that the trek was full of snow❄❄⛄. Till 3km I alone was going on Scotty and everyone else was going by foot and literally Thug life tone was coming in my mind (tana nana na😎😎). After reaching half way I parked my scooty there and started the trek🚶🚶 and it saved me a lot of time🕛🕛.

Whole trek was snow covered and at many points the snow was hard and very slippery😶😶, as it was not the fresh snow.

So, I recommend you to have good shoes with good treds, so that you can get a better grip🙂, I was wearing puma sports shoes but they were not working🤔😑.

I started my Trek at around 11:30am and in reached the top at around 01:15 pm🏃🏃. There was a lot of snow, but the trek is really simple🙃, you only need to be careful about the hard snow so that you don’t get slipped.

View from the top is very mesmerising 🌄🌌and the temple is very beautiful. You will definitely enjoy it. I reached back to my Scooty at around 2:30pm and headed back to Narkanda.

I had my lunch 🍜🍲and started back towards Chandigarh. But this time from the Chail route. That you can take from Kufri. The route is very beautiful and with no traffic. You gonna enjoy the beautiful forest🐒🐒 area of the Chail. After reaching Chail you will get a point where there are 2 roads, if you are coming to Chandigarh than take the road going right 👉, this road will take you to Kandaghat via Sadhupul And from Kandaghat you can connect to Solan.

After reaching Solan take the road going from Kumarhatti as it will take you from the newly opened solan tunnel.

I reached back Chandigarh at around 10:00pm⏰.

So this was my one day trip to Hatu peak. Hope it’s a bit useful.

Keep the places Clean and Green, don’t litter waste.
